Online-Marketing Internship
Position Description: Indego Africa offers an opportunity for a student or young professional to gain experience with developing and implementing online marketing strategies for socially-conscious, high-end handicrafts. The Marketing Intern will improve his or her skills in persuasive writing, media strategy, social media, online marketing, while learning about the field of social entrepreneurship and the general inner workings of an international NGO. The Online-Marketing Intern will be supervised by the Creative Director.
Skills and Education Preferred:
- Grad Student or young professional focusing on online marketing, general business, or other related course of study.
- Background knowledge or coursework with respect to marketing, product sales, retail management, nonprofits, Africa, international development (preferred).
- Excellent computer skills including usage of the Microsoft Office suite (required) and other relevant publishing and productivity tools (preferred). Indego Africa currently uses Joomla for its back-end website content management and Amazon and Shopify for its e-commerce platform and inventory management. Proficiency in, or ability and willingness to learn, these programs is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the digital media landscape, including Facebook and Twitter and how to perform social media analytics.
Expected Projects and Skills Learned:
- E-Newsletter: Conceptualize and collaborate with Creative Director and Graphic Design Intern to create monthly product e-newsletter in CRM; update recipient list accordingly. Expand current newsletter distribution database.
- Social Media: Collaborate with Communications Manager to manage social media strategy across IA vehicles. Analyze Twitter, Facebook, and other social media effectively using social media analytics.
Availability:
- Summer internships start June 3 and end August 9.
- Min. 30 hours per week. Strong preference for applicants who are able to come to the office 4 or more days per week.

Technology Project
Project Description: Indego Africa offers an exciting project for a student or young professional skilled in database and list serve mail management. Familiarity with Vertical Response, Salesforce, or both is highly preferred.
Project Requirements
- Analyze, triage, and filter current distribution lists on Vertical Response (over 5000 email addresses)
- Transfer email addresses from Vertical Response to Salesforce and create appropriate tags.
- Create distribution lists on Salesforce.
- Automate the integration of email addresses from both donor database and Shopify e-commerce site to Salesforce.
- Research, test, and begin to roll-out Mail Chimp for newsletter mailings.
Availability:
- Summer internships start June 3 and end August 9.
